An Overview of This New Feature

Oracle HCM Journeys provide a guide for your employees to complete both professional and personal tasks regularly encountered from hire to retire. Journeys are a comprehensive suite of tools designed to help HR teams manage the entire employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to development and offboarding. The platform includes a wide range of features and tools that can be customized to meet the needs of any organization. Here, we’ll explore how Journeys differ from checklists, how to leverage personal Journeys, Contextual Journeys versus Guided Journeys, and how to add noteworthy points while implementing enhancements such as those released in 22D.
One of the key features of Oracle HCM Journeys is its ability to automate many HR processes. This includes things like job postings, resume screening, interview scheduling, and new hire paperwork. These tasks are made easy by walking users through a variety of tasks with guided instructions. By automating these tasks, HR teams can save time and reduce errors, allowing them to focus on more strategic initiatives.
Another important aspect of Oracle HCM Journeys is its focus on employee development. The platform includes tools for performance management, training and development, and career planning. HR teams can use these tools to help employees grow and develop their skills, which can improve retention rates and drive business results.
Personal Journeys can be created for a particular employee to have all tasks assigned to them by HR and their line manager. There are two routes to leverage an existing Journey or to develop a new journey in line with your company’s unique requirements, both under the Explore tab. This is a popular option with employees as they can add and try out scenarios that are private to them as a user.
Guided Journeys versus Contextual Journeys
Contextual Journeys are helpful to allow specific tasks that need to be performed before the following action could occur as they are associated with a Quick Action. This is particularly useful for HR specialists to leverage checklist templates or create a checklist.
Guided Journeys vary from Contextual Journeys in that there are no rigid steps that must be taken in a precise order. Guided Journeys provide a pathway through tutorials, company policies, and best practices in the context of an HCM flow using guided journey tasks, for example, tasks to help a line manager transfer an employee. Contextual Journeys offer a more flexible approach to completing tasks, allowing you to configure tasks that need to be performed by different task performers.
In addition to these features and Journey pathways, Oracle HCM Journeys also includes a variety of analytics and reporting tools. This allows HR teams to track key metrics like employee engagement, turnover rates, and training effectiveness. With this data, HR teams can make data-driven decisions and continuously improve their processes and programs.
One of the benefits of Oracle HCM Journeys is that it can be used by enterprise-level organizations across industries. The platform is highly customizable and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of each organization. Customizable items include workflows, reporting dashboards, and integration with other HR systems.
Oracle came out with additional enhancements to Journeys in the 22D release that are helpful for your organization to leverage. A fundamental improvement was the ability to add advanced tasks with a blend of task types. Additionally, a vast improvement for the compensation module where you can now add both Contextual and Guided Journeys for compensation flows such as Salary History, Compensation Info and My Compensation. Furthermore, you can implement surveys known as ‘Touchpoints’ and deep links with parameters and allow for template-based security.
Overall, Oracle HCM Journeys is a powerful suite of tools that can help HR teams streamline their processes, improve employee engagement and development, and drive business results. Whether you are a small business looking to automate your HR processes or a large enterprise in need of a comprehensive HR platform, Oracle HCM Journeys has something to offer.
