Using Redwood in PeopleSoft
Oracle has introduced the Redwood UI to enhance user experience across its ecosystem of applications, including PeopleSoft.
Redwood Visual Builder Studio User Interface Training
Vituity originally engaged Elire through our website, where they expressed a need for structured guidance in transitioning their responsive pages to Oracle Cloud’s Redwood User Interface (UI). In their request, Vituity outlined how their system administrators were overwhelmed by the abundance of webinars and Oracle University resources available. Looking for concise and applicable insights, Vituity sought to connect with Elire for targeted sessions and workshop training on the new Oracle Cloud Redwood Visual Builder Studio UI.
The project was designed to familiarize Vituity’s team with Oracle Cloud’s latest Redwood features and capabilities, with an emphasis on the new toolset within Oracle Cloud SaaS products. This toolset represents a significant evolution in Oracle’s Cloud ERP/HCM SaaS product, fundamentally altering how pages are designed and constructed across all applications.
With Redwood, Vituity now has access to a more streamlined and cohesive framework for extending delivered pages using business rules. The project aimed to empower Vituity to build new Pages and Flows in their own AppUI extension, allowing bolt-on capabilities never before seen in Oracle Cloud. The new Studio layer on top of Visual Builder also allows for Git Management, Issue Tracking, Merge Request management and the ability to create Build Pipelines for pushing changes leveraging GIT methods.
The engagement encountered challenges due to the newness of the Oracle Cloud Redwood Visual Builder Studio, which led to some product issues such as page elements not rendering and issues with business rules not applying over the delivered pages in Express Mode. These issues were addressed by opening Service Requests (SRs) for resolution. However, given the short duration of the engagement, a full resolution of these problems was not achievable within the timeframe. Despite these setbacks, the project proceeded with a focus on maximizing the training value within the available scope.
Elire applied its longstanding Oracle expertise to deliver comprehensive, structured training sessions tailored to Vituity’s specific needs. Focusing on Vituity’s priorities, the engagement empowered their team to transition to Oracle Redwood’s new Visual Builder Studio UI, all while exploring opportunities for enhanced performance and efficiency in their broader Oracle Cloud setup.
The training provided Vituity’s team with crucial insights into how data is sourced and manipulated within pages and flows. Vituity learned how to work with new components, as well as how to utilize extensions of app dependencies recently released by Oracle’s development team.
Although Visual Builder Studio isn’t entirely new, its introduction to Oracle Cloud SaaS products marked a significant shift for Vituity. The training sessions were particularly valuable in helping their team understand how to manipulate delivered pages by applying new business rules, such as hiding or showing fields, defaulting values, and setting configuration items. Additionally, they gained the skills to build new AppUIs, enabling them to create bolt-on pages directly within the application.
The project was completed successfully, meeting both time and budget constraints. Despite the engagement focusing on training rather than a full-scale implementation, Vituity’s team walked away with a deeper understanding of the new development tools and methods. These insights not only enhanced their current development capabilities but also prepared them for future advancements and improvements within Oracle Cloud. Vituity’s newfound expertise in manipulating pages and building custom interfaces positions them to better leverage ongoing updates and innovations from Oracle.
