Oracle Cloud ERP and EPM Optimization Assessment
The Mashantucket Pequots are a native Algonquin people who endured centuries of conflict, survival, and continuity on and around North America’s oldest Indian reservation (Est. 1666) located in southeastern Connecticut. Today, Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (MPTN) owns and operates one of the largest and most successful resort casinos in North America—Foxwoods Resort Casino, along with a variety of other enterprises. All together, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation remains one of the State of Connecticut’s highest taxpayers, largest employers, and has contributed more than $3 billion to Connecticut through the first-of-its-kind tribal gaming revenue-sharing agreement, enacted in 1993. In addition to these endeavors, the Tribe provides generous assistance to nonprofit organizations that support its local communities.
Initially, Elire was brought in for an Oracle Cloud Reporting Optimization Project over a three-week period in October 2023. Elire used their Cloud Optimization Assessment tools and experience to analyze their current state in Oracle Cloud. The Elire team was tasked with facilitating working sessions with detailed outputs, creating an Optimization Roadmap, as well as creating a quick reference guide for using Oracle Cloud Financial Reporting studio.
In Elire’s work evaluating their Cloud ERP system, the team reviewed Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s General Ledger setup in Cloud ERP, reviewed their Enterprise Structure in ERP, reviewed their Current Financial Reports in Oracle Cloud ERP and EPM, and did a deep dive into financial consolidation process and strategy for future, as well as provided training on report building in ERP and EPM.
The key roadblocks encountered related to the strategic decision required for the Financial Reporting strategy. This was critical to decide as the client leverages both ERP and EPM, which required synchronization of financial data. The challenges were related to the definition of reports, which functioned for entities with different reporting calendars. Elire was able to leverage experience from past customers and knowledge of reporting tools to overcome both of these challenges.
Mashantucket Pequot could not report their financials as they did not have Financial Statements configured. Elire was able to configure 20+ Financial Statements which are now consumed by all 30+ Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation companies.
Mashantucket Pequot was also so new to Oracle that there was a lack of understanding and training on the application. Elire continues to provide training and support to their financial leadership team through targeted optimization initiatives.
Elire was able to demonstrate our knowledge of the delivered reporting tools within Oracle Cloud to meet MPTN reporting requirements with out–of–the–box tools, enhance the MPTN skillset through targeted training in the application, and build a trusted advisor relationship through continued work to support MPTN. The assessment finished on time and budget and turned into more opportunities for Elire to partner with MPTN to optimize their Oracle Cloud adoption. Elire is now helping MPTN with the creation of their financial reporting package and continued training of MPTN staff to learn and adopt Oracle Cloud ERP and EPM.
