AP Automation Application Roadmap
ITC Holdings Corp. is the nation’s largest independent electricity transmission company. Based in Novi, Michigan ITC invests in the electric transmission grid to improve system reliability, expand access to markets, lower the overall cost of delivered energy and allow new generating resources to interconnect to its transmission systems. ITC’s regulated operating subsidiaries include ITC Transmission, Michigan Electric Transmission Company, ITC Midwest, and ITC Great Plains.
In this two-part engagement, ITC engaged Elire to redesign and modernize their Payables operations through the selection and implementation of an Accounts Payable Automation platform.
The first part of the project included identifying requirements through business process mapping, defining goals, and understanding the technical needs of ITC. Elire identified three potential optical character recognition (OCR) and automation platforms and executed a comprehensive Fit/Gap and cost analysis to identify the best fit. Once a solution was selected, Elire was engaged to lead an implementation project which included data cleanup, future state design, workflow configuration, build, end-to-end testing, and training both Accounts Payable staff and business users.
Elire needed to work closely with the solution provider’s development team on technical changes based on ITC’s requirements. Role-specific training had to be designed for Accounts Payable staff, power users, as well as casual end users. Data conversion from a legacy application required Elire to create a new software tool from the ground up to support the larger implementation project.
Elire successfully delivered a compelling Application Roadmap and recommendation during solution selection and pivoted to a successful implementation of the chosen application. Elire completed a holistic, comprehensive project from requirements gathering and design through configuration, testing, and change management. The application, AP staff, and end users were all ready for go-Live which occurred on May 26th, 2017.
