PeopleSoft FSCM Assessment & Optimization
AARP, a long-term client of Elire, engaged Elire in late 2022 for a PeopleSoft HCM assessment. After successfully implementing the recommendations from that project, AARP returned in early 2023 to request support for their “Make Me Current / Move to Fluid” initiative, which went live in October 2023. Building on that success, AARP’s Financial Application Support Team (FAST) asked Elire to assess their PeopleSoft FSCM system to help them optimize customizations and ensure they were maximizing the system’s potential.
The project was broken down into three phases:
Elire Advisory consultants led the discovery and documentation efforts and managed our proprietary Customization Identifier, Object Tracker, and other accelerator tools. Elire’s Advisory Team ensured that the focus remained on optimizing AARP’s system while reducing unnecessary customizations, and that the project stayed on time and on budget.
The first goal of this project was to review 655 customizations in AARP’s PeopleSoft Finance ERP system and determine the best course of action for each one. These actions included:
Advisory consultants from Team Elire worked alongside AARP’s IT and FAST teams to assess whether to retain, remove, replace, reengineer, or redesign each customization. Elire assessed a broad range of financial modules including General Ledger, Asset Management, Billing, Accounts Receivables, Travel & Expense, Accounts Payable, Treasury, Purchasing, ePro, Project Costing, and Grants Management.
The second goal for the project was assessing unutilized tools and features in PeopleSoft to provide additional business value to end users. For each module, business process owners identified and prioritized which available functionality would benefit their teams the most. Advisory and PeopleSoft functional consultants hosted workshops to demo features, discuss use cases, and affirm the value for business users.
The project ran smoothly without any major challenges or setbacks. Effective collaboration between AARP’s teams and Team Elire ensured that the process stayed on track and the goals were clearly defined and met.
The project concluded on November 8, 2024, with AARP reporting high satisfaction with the results. Some of the key deliverables included:

The project was completed on time and within budget, delivering value in the form of a more efficient system, increased functionality, and a clearer path for future PeopleSoft FSCM enhancements.
