Tips for Fusion HCM Reporting and Effective Data Utilization
In today’s data-driven world, harnessing the full potential of your information is crucial for making informed decisions and driving business success. Within Oracle HCM Cloud, there is a powerful suite of tools designed to elevate your data management and reporting capabilities.
In this blog, we’ll explore the intricacies of Oracle Cloud Reporting, focusing on how to optimize quality reporting and enhance your organization’s data utilization. Understanding the nuances of these reporting tools can transform the way you interact with your data in Cloud. Gain an understanding of best practices, key features, and actionable strategies to leverage Cloud HCM reports for superior insights and impactful business decisions.
Maximize Efficiency with Delivered Reports
Oracle Cloud delivers pre-built reports and reporting capabilities that can streamline the reporting process. These solutions are designed to meet common business needs, reducing the time and cost of report development while ensuring high-quality results. If not already leveraging Oracle’s reporting tools, pre-built reports are a great place to start.
With over 600 delivered reporting objects available in Cloud out-of-the-box, starting your reporting journey is easy. The delivered report catalog is available on Oracle Help Center under “Analyze and Reports” > “Review Prebuilt Analytics and Reports” > “Review Human Resources Reports.”
Several required reports for the United States are delivered in Cloud; W2, ACA, VETS-100, VETS-4212 EEO-1 are all available. Note that Federal 941 Form and quarterly state required reports are not delivered, however, U.S. Third-Party Quarterly Tax Extract does contain those required data points necessary for Form 941.
Depending on the type of report desired, there may be additional steps required to run the report or customization steps needed. Different modules may also require variations to run and access delivered reports as well.
Master the Reporting Catalog
With the Master Reporting Catalog, Cloud users can navigate the extensive library of Oracle reports like a pro. Quickly find the reports you need, understand how they’re organized, and effectively manage your reporting assets to support better decision-making.
The Reporting Catalog is the primary location for reporting objects (excluding HCM Extracts). Typical Navigation to the Catalog can be found by selecting “Tools” > “Reports and Analytics” > “Browse Catalog” in Cloud HCM. Delivered Fusion HCM reports can be located within the reporting catalog via “Shared Folders” > “Human Capital Management.” The catalog is particularly useful since many reports can be run and deployed directly within the catalog, serving as a one-stop-shop for common reports.
Time-dependent or time-specific reports such as payroll may require prior scheduling in order to run correctly. Parameters can be configured by adding customizations. Customization steps will vary by the reporting type that is being customized.
Get to Know the Reporting Objects and OTBI
Cloud HCM users can create more dynamic and informative reports by using Reporting Objects. OTBI (Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence) is a is a real-time reporting and analysis tool that helps users gain insights into their business data. OTBI is geared toward business users and is particularly useful for users who do not know SQL and/or the underlying table structures necessary to customize their desired reports.
OTBI’s core functionality allows users to simply drag and drop selected data from the desired subject areas. Customization can occur by saving the object as a new object and then editing the new object after changes have been made. For more on OTBI, view our reporting overview blog post here.
Elevate Reports with Smart Customizations
Use Smart Customizations to go beyond the basics and tailor your reports to fit precise business requirements. To create a customized report, users must copy a delivered report and then modify the copied version. Delivered reports themselves cannot be customized.
The type of reporting object will determine what, if any, technical expertise is needed to customize. For example, if a report is referenced throughout application, additional consideration should be taken with any customizations. Report template customizations are generally preferred over Data Model or HCM Extract customization due to the technical experience required to configure Data Model and HCM Extract customizations.
Engage with Cloud Customer Connect
Connect with Oracle’s Cloud Customer Connect to enhance your reporting knowledge. Engaging with a community of experts to exchange best practices and find innovative solutions to your reporting challenges can be worthwhile and offer invaluable insights. The HCM Reports Sharing Center allows users to sample OTBI or BI Publisher reports that have been posted by those in the Cloud HCM community in response to industry or region-specific reporting requirements. Reports in the HCM Report Sharing Center are available for download and install onto your Cloud HCM environment. Leveraging the power of these communal reporting templates can save users the time and effort required to build and configure their own unique reports.
