Ascend 2023 recap

Thank you to all of those able to join us for OATUG and OHUG Ascend! We’re so proud to have been a part of this four-day conference event. The 2023 Ascend conference in Orlando, Florida, has left attendees inspired and fueled with inspiration of the boundless possibilities of technology. With an emphasis on innovation and product development, this year’s event showcased cutting-edge advancements, industry insights, and networking opportunities that left a lasting impact on the participants. Let’s take a closer look at the highlights of the 2023 Oracle Ascend conference.

This year’s conference saw a total of 1724 total registrants, 1183 of which were in-person attendees on-site in Orlando, Florida and 581 virtual attendees from 26 countries. Elire sent 12 team members from our Cloud, PeopleSoft, Treasury, Sales, and Marketing teams to attend the conference, facilitate discussions at our booth, as well as present six sessions over the course of the four-day conference.

Conference Highlights: Technological Innovation

The 2023 OATUG/OHUG Ascend conference provided a platform for unveiling new technologies that are set to revolutionize many industries. Cloud, PeopleSoft, and EBS customers can take advantage of Oracle’s continued commitment to innovation in the technology sphere. Attendees had the opportunity to witness demonstrations of Oracle’s autonomous database and its capabilities to streamline data management, improve security, and enhance performance. The conference also highlighted emerging trends such as Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, and robotic process automation (RPA), and how showcasing these technologies can be harnessed in your Oracle software investments to drive business growth and efficiency.

Conference Highlights: Sessions Revisited

Conference sessions kicked off on Sunday with Elire’s Ryan Martiny facilitating the “PeopleSoft Community Meet-Up”. This forum-style session provided highlights to upcoming PeopleSoft PUM and Tools releases and the broader HCM roadmap. Mr. Martiny was joined by Brian McIntyre, President of WorkStrategy, Inc. and together explored with participants customer case studies, best practices, and project highlights as well as reviewed the pertinent learning resources available to PeopleSoft customers.

The keynote presentation Monday morning “Setting the Stage for Success: Welcome Awards Keynote” was presented by Marita Cheng, the “Robot Queen to Change the World!” In the keynote, attendees heard about how Marita Cheng went from a small-town girl living in government housing to conquering the globe as one of Forbes Top 50 Women in Tech, as well as the second youngest person to become a Member of the Order of Australia. Her presentation was inspiring and emotive, and set the tone for an uplifting conference.

Following the keynote, Elire’s John Stahl and Matthew Toomey, Deputy Division Leader, for Lawrence Livermore Lab presented “DOE in the Cloud and Best Practices for PeopleSoft to Oracle HCM Cloud Migrations.” The session saw great attendance and engagement from audience members. Elire’s Michael Marthe presented “Enabling and Using Autocomplete to Optimize Processes” as well as “PeopleSoft Path to Cloud” alongside Elire’s Cloud ERP practice lead Jason McCabe. Ryan Martiny and Heather Adamski partnered to deliver “Getting it Right: Utilizing Profile Management” to an engaged group of PeopleSoft users, as well as “Benefit Plan Comparison for Open Enrollment.”
