PeopleSoft to Oracle Cloud ERP and EPM Transformation
Kamehameha Schools (KS), a private educational trust and one of the largest landowners in Hawai‘i, embarked on a strategic journey to modernize their enterprise systems by migrating from PeopleSoft to Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and EPM. The engagement with Elire began in 2020 with PeopleSoft optimization and evolved into a full-scale Oracle Fusion Cloud transformation project that kicked off in October 2024 and successfully concluded in October 2025.
The scope included a comprehensive Oracle Cloud ERP implementation with a phased Oracle Cloud EPM deployment. KS also expanded the original project scope to include advanced modules such as Risk Management Cloud, embedded banking with JP Morgan, Oracle Digital Assistant, and Fusion Data Intelligence.
The team operated under a tight, 12-month timeline for the core ERP implementation. Elire overcame this challenge by establishing clear project governance, maintaining disciplined project management, and fostering rapid decision-making. Regular check-ins and adherence to milestones ensured that the project remained on schedule.
Both internal and external teams faced competing priorities and limited availability of key personnel. To mitigate this, Elire prioritized tasks, adapted resource allocation as needed, and worked closely with KS leadership to ensure timely decision-making and efficient use of available resources.
Unexpected natural events in Hawai‘i during the project required quick pivots in planning and communication. Elire responded with agility, promptly adjusting project plans and maintaining proactive communication to keep all stakeholders informed, ensuring minimal impact on project progress. Through strong collaboration, transparent governance, and shared values, Elire and KS were able to overcome these challenges and keep the project on track.
Elire successfully delivered the project on time and on budget, meeting all original objectives while also incorporating new scope elements that enhanced the value of their Oracle Fusion Cloud platform.
Kamehameha Schools achieved notable success through a series of key initiatives during their transformation project. One of the primary accomplishments was the consolidation of multiple legacy systems into a unified, modern enterprise platform, which significantly reduced system complexity and technical debt. This streamlining of applications not only improved manageability but also set the stage for greater operational efficiency. For instance, the automation of an integration resulted in substantial time savings, eliminating an estimated two hours of manual work each day for the KS team and highlighting considerable productivity gains.
Beyond technical enhancements, the migration to Oracle Cloud represented a strategic modernization effort, providing Kamehameha Schools with a scalable, future-ready platform that supports long-term goals and fosters ongoing innovation.
Central to the project’s success was the foundation of trust and partnership between KS and Elire, which evolved over several years from managed services and optimization of PeopleSoft into a collaborative implementation relationship. The onsite project kickoff meetings, community service projects with the KS and Elire Teams, fostered a high level of collaboration and trust that carried both teams through the project. The dedication of internal leadership, who played a critical role in decision-making and cultural alignment was instrumental in navigating challenges and ensuring the project’s positive outcome.
ERP went live in a single phase, EPM deployments are being rolled out in stages to align with sequencing dependencies and ensure sustained success.
Kamehameha Schools is a private charitable educational trust founded in 1887 by the will of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the last royal descendant of the Kamehameha line. With a mission to improve the capability and well-being of Native Hawaiians through education, KS operates K-12 campuses, preschools, and community programs across the state. It also manages an extensive portfolio of land and financial assets to fund its educational mission.
