Using Redwood in PeopleSoft
Oracle has introduced the Redwood UI to enhance user experience across its ecosystem of applications, including PeopleSoft.
Oracle Cloud Services
Yum! Brands, Inc., based in Louisville, Kentucky, has over 50,000 restaurants in more than 150 countries and territories primarily operating the company’s restaurant brands – KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell – global leaders of the chicken, pizza and Mexican-style food categories. The Company’s family of brands also includes The Habit Burger Grill, a fast-casual restaurant concept specializing in made-to-order chargrilled burgers, sandwiches and more. Worldwide, the Yum! Brands system opens over nine new restaurants per day on average, making it a leader in global retail development. In 2019, Yum! Brands was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index and ranked among the top 100 Best Corporate Citizens by Corporate Responsibility Magazine.
Yum! Brands, Inc. engaged Elire and Oracle for a multi-year, global enterprise transformation from on-premise to Oracle Cloud. Yum! leveraged their Oracle Cloud Implementation as an opportunity to streamline disparate systems and processes from their multiple business entities into a unified platform, built for growth and to meet the changing needs of their business units and users. The Elire and Oracle Team leveraged Oracle’s leading SaaS and PaaS applications to meet the unique business needs of Yum! Brands, while also offering a wealth of delivered functionality to modernize their business practices.
Wave 1
Yum! Brands was previously on PeopleSoft Release 8.8 moving to Oracle Cloud for Finance and HCM. Yum Brands legacy platform was outdated, and they had a failed upgrade that took multiple years. Yum then made the decision to migrate to Cloud to move off of their mainframe infrastructure. Yum Brands took the migration to cloud as an opportunity to transform their business and modernize their processes and applications. They took the approach of starting with their corporate Yum! Operations and deployed a phased rollout for their brands. Yum! Brands also licensed all of the PaaS tools to set the technical foundation for future phase requirements. Phase 1 encompassed 1393 workers, 42k assignment/job rows, 15k job codes, 30k departments, 19k locations, 17k rows of benefit election information, 2k contacts, 4.5k rows of tax withholding, 11k rows of element-related information, and 76k payroll balances initialized.
Talent Zone – Global
The goal of the project was to convert all global, non-us paid above store employees from PeopleSoft 9.2 and 8.8 instances to an already live cloud instance. The team had to configure Core HR to support additional global employees, as well as configure Talent Profile to support Performance, Career Planning, Succession Planning, and Global Mobility Programs. Workforce Compensation also had to be configured to support year end pay for the performance process. Performance is reviewed and awards for Merit, Lump Sum, Adjustment, Promotion, Bonus, and Stock are issued in two separate processes for Global Non-US Paid and US Paid employees.
Wave 2
Phase 2 of the Oracle Cloud Project Scope had three primary objectives. The first was expanding the existing Cloud functionality to support the brand data for Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and KFC restaurants. The second objective was to convert active and historical restaurant level employee data from PeopleSoft 8.8. The third fold was to build a custom time and labor application using PaaS and SaaS solutions. This helped to incorporate complex labor rule processing which was previously handled by the back-office mainframe computing.
Habit Burger Acquisition
When Yum Brands! acquired Habit Burger, Elire assisted with the integration of Habit Burger employees into Oracle Cloud. Habit Burger employee data was converted from reports from their previous Ultipro cloud system. Approximately 7K historical and current Habit Burger employees were converted into Oracle Cloud.
Autocomplete
To enhance data validation processes, Elire collaborated with Yum! Brands to develop Autocomplete rules within the Oracle Cloud software. These rules were designed to assist users in entering accurate and consistent data by defaulting multiple key assignment fields and adding validation checks during data entry.
Wave 1
Elire played a critical role in all aspects of the project, from environment management and conversions to functional setup and reporting. Members of the Elire team led the overall Reporting Strategy for the Design, Build, and Testing of Yum! Phase 1 reports. This included critical validation reports during the implementation as well as operational user reports that would be leveraged post go-live. Using Elire’s deep Cloud transformation experience and command of the Oracle Cloud import tools such as HDL, Benefit Batch Loader & Payroll Batch Loader, Elire lead the conversion effort and developed tools and processes to handle Yum’s 30 years of historic data spanning multiple work relationships. These tools and processes will be reused during Phase 2 for the full population of over 40k non-franchise workers.
Talent Zone
The Elire team added approximately 1,555 new workers, 9,000+ current and historical assignment rows, 5,500+ salary records from Yum! PeopleSoft 9.2 instance. 2,875 talent profiles were converted from both 9.2 and 8.8 PeopleSoft instances. The team successfully configured:
The Elire team also converted 10 years of historical stock awards and implemented 30 fast formulas. Over 15 custom reports and analytics (including OTBI, BIP, and Infolets) were developed, and 46 custom role and database security requirements were implemented.
Wave 2
Wave 2 continued the journey for Yum brand’s by moving additional data and functions into Oracle Cloud including:
Habit Burger Acquisition
Autocomplete
By implementing Autocomplete rules, Yum! Brands improved data quality, reduced errors, and also helped with overall system efficiency. This included:
