Oracle CloudWorld 2022 Revisited

Highlights and Announcements from Oracle Leaders

After four days of fun and learning, the Oracle CloudWorld 2022 conference in Las Vegas, Nevada has come to a close. However, the energy and momentum of this event isn’t slowing. With sessions available on-demand and opportunities to continue networking in your CloudWorld portal, the learning continues at home. Below, we’ll recap the key highlights and announcements from CloudWorld 2022.

Keynote Highlights

To kick things off Tuesday morning, Oracle CEO, Safra Catz sat down with business leaders to discuss “Driving Impactful Business Results” in the opening keynote. Guests included Christian Horner, OBE, Team Principal and CEO, Oracle Red Bull Racing, Jensen Huang, CEO and Founder, NVIDIA, Gordon Mackechnie, CTO, Deutsche Bank, Michael Macrie, CIO, Melissa & Doug, Raul Obregón, Chief Transformation and Information Officer, Grupo Bimbo, Diane Schwarz, Vice President and CIO, Johnson Controls, and Lee Tsukroff, CFO, Melissa & Doug. Safra Catz met with these leaders to discuss how they have worked to solve some of the most complex business process problems with Oracle technology and partners. Ms. Catz showcased the importance of taking action and calculated risk. A key theme was the need for innovation and fast-paced decision-making in order to keep up with today’s rapid technological advancements.

Oracle founder, board chairman, and CTO Larry Ellison presented Tuesday afternoon on “Solving the Most Complex Problems Across Industries”. In this keynote, Mr. Ellison highlighted the “why” in the question of why is it important to prioritize technological advancement in the future of cloud infrastructure? In looking at the future of the cloud, an “internet of cloud” or “multi-cloud” future is predicted, one where seamless integration of providers like AWS, Azure, Google, etc. exists and functions effortlessly between applications and enterprises.

Mr. Ellison highlighted the next generation of healthcare applications and the ability to automate entire ecosystems end-to-end. The current generation of U.S. healthcare systems put hospitals at the center of the system, rather than patients. With Oracle’s recent acquisition of Cerner in December 2021, Oracle has its eye set on the goal of creating a provider health management system that puts patients and administrators at the center. This end-to-end automated system would provide a structure for a national public health analysis system that can integrate to a global public health analysis system that would allow for greater data sharing and the ability to provide a more accurate picture of world health.

For the next Keynote “What’s New and Next for Oracle Fusion Applications”, Oracle Executive Vice President for Applications Development, Steve Miranda discussed the speed of innovation and navigating an uncertain world. Companies and individuals that adjusted quickly, came out in a better place. Oracle Cloud applications have continued to see change and innovation. In this keynote, he announced in a partnership with JP Morgan and FedEx a brand new set of B2B commerce capabilities. Oracle and their partners FedEx and JP Morgan have created an integrated payment and logistics solution that B2B customers can rely on for seamless payments and the movement of cargo.

Oracle CloudWorld 2022 Technology Announcements

The integration capabilities of J.P. Morgan Payments and Oracle Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning and Oracle’s new B2B Commerce platform is one of the key announcements to come out of CloudWorld. This allows B2B customers to integrate J.P. Morgan Payments tools into Oracle Cloud ERP in a matter of hours rather than days or weeks of technical configuring.

In 22D, Joint Venture Management now has theability to process transactions from Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials, as well as processtransactions from third-party financial systems so long as those transactions are first imported into Oracle Financials through Oracle Accounting Hub. This will save time and allow for more automated processing.

Oracle Federal Financials offers a preconfigured version of Cloud that incorporates processes common to U.S. federal agencies. U.S. Federal and Department of Defense customers now can benefit from the power of Oracle Cloud infrastructure. Read more of the capabilities federal agencies can now unlock here.

Changes to the Cloud User Interface are also on the horizon for Cloud customers. The announcement of the Cloud Redwood UI release will allow for new functionality to be utilized that is only available with the new Redwood theme. Redwood allows you to develop a front end for applications Oracle doesn’t provide. The Redwood design systems and tools available extend your applications and allow you to also build new ones. 22D adds exciting new functionality for the front end of your Oracle application.
