PeopleSoft 9.2 Financials Optimization
FM Global is one of the world’s largest commercial property insurance companies, insuring one of every three Fortune 1000 companies and similarly sized organizations worldwide. FM Global works with its clients to assess risk, respond to loss, and to support recovery after a claim. They have operations in all international markets with offices in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific regions.
FM Global is currently on PeopleSoft FSCM 9.2 but their use of the system remained “frozen in time” back to their 9.0 upgrade in 2009. In late 2019, Elire completed a Phase 0 engagement which analyzed Current State Disconnects, assessed existing Customizations and New Features using Elire’s proprietary Accelerator Tools, and outlined multiple PeopleSoft optimization paths for FM Global to choose from. After multiple reviews with leadership, FM Global selected a stepping stone approach. Phase 1 consisted of upgrading PeopleTools from 8.55 to 8.57 and deploying the Fluid User Interface to its employees, deferring any major optimization efforts to a later phase in 2021. Elire supported their technical team with the PeopleTools upgrade and led the efforts for designing a custom Fluid Homepage, Tile, and Pivot Grid deployment to all international users.
Covid-19 was just starting to impact the world when the Phase 1 optimization effort began. Both client and consultant resources were working remotely. This was the first fully remote project in FM Global’s history. Elire brought in additional Project Management methodology to ensure communication channels stayed open and conducted online working sessions throughout the engagement to keep stakeholder participation high. Training sessions were provided on different schedules to include Europe and AsiaPac resources and were also recorded to provide a lasting footprint. Another challenge was that the decision to hold off on a PUM implementation that would have taken FM Global from Image 19 to 37. Oracle had delivered extra Fluid Tile, Navigation Collections, and Fluid WorkCenters functionality after PUM 19. A detailed risk analysis was conducted to ensure FM Global had the best path forward when pulling new features from future PUMs, or building custom Fluid functionality manually.
The PeopleTools Upgrade and Fluid Optimization efforts were both a huge success. Elire worked with FM Global to conduct post-training surveys to quantify training and implementation success. FM Global had a high participation rate in the survey, and 80% of users felt the training and new Fluid user interface would either improve or highly improve day to day activities and increase efficiency. A survey was generated on the training documentation as well. 100% of respondents found the training to be helpful or very helpful in understanding the new functionality. FM Elire continues to support FM Global with additional projects that are paving the way to the full PUM upgrade in 2021. FM Global has an additional GL implementation underway that will Go-Live in November of 2020. Elire is also supporting the process of assessing AP workflow deployment and a potential imaging solution implementation. FM Global plans to complete a PUM Image Upgrade in 2021 along with the delayed Optimization efforts to reduce/replace customizations and roll-out expanded functionality.
