Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation

Optimizing Oracle EPM through Managed Services

Scope of the Project

Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (MPTN), owners of Foxwoods Resort Casino and a broad portfolio of government and for-profit enterprises, turned to Elire to optimize their Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) Cloud solution. After a foundational EPM implementation by a separate vendor left gaps in functionality, training, and reporting, MPTN engaged Elire’s Managed Services team to provide targeted post-implementation support and to extend the value of their software investment.

Elire’s engagement began with EPM reporting and Smart View enablement, then expanded from Managed Services into an additional Workforce Planning project, ERP-EPM integration enhancements, training and education, automation, and roadmap development—including narrative reporting and AI-powered forecasting.

The Challenge

MPTN found themselves needing additional support after go-live. To address MPTN’s evolving challenges and maximize the value of their Oracle EPM investment, Elire delivered targeted solutions that overcame critical challenges after go-live. Elire enhanced reporting capabilities and delivered in-depth end-user training, empowering the finance team to fully leverage EPM’s broader potential. Through tailored approaches, Elire provided:

  • Comprehensive Training and Enablement: Elire conducted extensive training sessions, especially on Smart View, enabling users to build robust reports and fully utilize the platform’s reporting features since this was an area where previous knowledge was lacking
  • Alignment with Business Needs: Elire implemented a dual-approach to workforce planning, supporting both job-code–based budgeting for Foxwoods and named-employee planning for MPTN government operations, ensuring the system met the distinct requirements of each business unit
  • Solutions to Manual Processes: By introducing automated data pipelines between Oracle ERP and EPM, Elire eliminated the challenge of MPTNs manual processes, allowing for timely, accurate data movement and reducing reporting delays
  • Optimized Licensing Strategy: Elire reviewed and refined the licensing approach to enable department-level planning for all directors, which increased adoption and empowered broader participation across government departments

These efforts streamlined processes, improved reporting accuracy, and empowered the finance team to deliver timely budgeting insights to leadership and the Tribal Council. Ongoing monthly Managed Services hours ensure continued optimization and support for MPTN’s financial planning initiatives.

Success Delivered

Elire stepped in post-implementation as a trusted advisor, helping MPTN maximize the value of their Oracle EPM investment with expert support, hands-on training, and scalable technical solutions.

Key outcomes included:

  • Workforce Planning Tailored to Both Business Models: MPTN wanted to expand their solution with Workforce Planning. Elire designed and implemented a dual-approach to Workforce Planning, allowing Foxwoods to budget by job code and MPTN government operations to plan by named employee. This flexibility brought budgeting in line with both regulatory and operational needs
  • Deep Smart View Enablement: Elire delivered comprehensive Smart View training, empowering finance team members to build dynamic reports, upload forecasts, and analyze data in familiar Excel environments. Smart View has now become a core reporting tool across the organization
  • Enhanced ERP-EPM Integration with Pipelines: By introducing Oracle’s Pipeline tool, Elire automated the flow of actuals from ERP to EPM—updating data hourly instead of relying on overnight or manual pushes. This enabled near-real-time reporting during close cycles and reduced dependency on IT resources
  • Narrative Reporting Implementation Roadmap: Elire is actively guiding MPTN through the adoption of Oracle Narrative Reporting, enabling them to produce professional-grade quarterly financial reports—with embedded commentary and visualizations—for Tribal Council using a team of just three finance staff
  • Foundational AI Enablement: Elire helped MPTN begin to leverage Oracle’s Intelligent Performance Management (IPM) tools to track anomalies, conduct variance analysis, and begin exploring predictive forecasting as a future-state capability
  • Long-Term Strategic Partnership: Through ongoing Managed Services, Elire provided continuous advisory support, release guidance, training resources, and roadmap planning to support MPTN’s evolving needs—including license planning, suite adoption, and data strategy
